Peter Vinden, Managing Director of The Vinden Partnership has been advising banks and insolvency practitioners on companies involved in construction and engineering processes for the last 15 years.

As well as being a chartered quantity surveyor, expert, mediator and reluctant hostage negotiator, Peter has dealt with 130 adjudications as Adjudicator and his firm regularly acts as a party representative both on behalf of and against companies that are subject to one of the insolvency procedures set out in the 1986 and 2000 Insolvency Acts together with The Enterprise  Act 2002.

COSTS IN ARBITRATION CURRENT AND FUTURE DEVELOPMENTS

Speaker      Prof Michael O’Reilly

Michael O’Reilly is a practising Barrister and Head of Civil Engineering at Kingston University. He is on the Editorial Board of the Arbitration Journal. He is a Chartered Arbitrator and on the ICE’s list. He is an authority on the subject of costs.

Costs are a feature of every arbitration and often dominate the parties’ thinking – especially towards the end of proceedings. The talk will look at the law as to costs in arbitration and the impact which the new rules of court, government pronouncements, developments with limited costs arbitrations, and the international practice are having on general practice. In addition conditional and contingency fee arrangements, non-legal; representation etc are creating new complications in an already complex field.
